Oh I get that most things in Texas are bigger by far than in most places except Iraq.
But to tell me that I can’t get a job here is ridiculous. First off no one here knows about the Army National Guard, they only know Ft. Hood with its Active Duty Army folks. I had an interview about 3 weeks ago and the manager asked me, “what is the National Guard I have never heard of it…” and I explained, “The National Guard only requires one weekend a month and two weeks out of the year from me. The National Guard is my part time service to the country and this job will be my full time job.” Thinking that would be good enough. He said, “you are very interesting I’ll have to look up this National Guard thing and expect a call from in next week.” NO CALL. Why? Oh yeah the damn National Guard and stupid people not knowing what the heck it is…
I get deployed to Kosovo and Iraq and soon to be Afghanistan if I stay in Texas Guard. But I can’t get a f*cking job in Texas… Oh I could get deployed for your stupid freedoms (I think its oil and not freedoms) and possibly die… and you can’t give me a job… f*ckers….
Then I get this call from Olan Mills Studio for the Photographer position that I applied for. They were excited to talk to me in on the phone but when I mentioned the Army National Guard and the one weekend a month and two weeks a year… she said well this job is from Thursday to Tuesday and we can’t have you miss any weekends… and she said sorry and hung up the phone… I wanted to slam my head in the wall and cry… I wanted this job as a photographer my dream job but because they don’t like the National Guard I can’t do it…
So I applied for 7 jobs at the VA hospital… and they are supposed to favor Vets so we will see if I get any and for a Waldons Security job on base… armed guards are paid 14 dollars and hour… nice pocket change..
I’m so ticked that the jobs here in Texas don’t know about National Guard… back home I would have a job by now and in college what’s holding me back is the job… if I don’t get one by October I’m moving back to PA… do I want to? No! I want to be with my boyfriend… Life will get better and start showering rainbows soon… I know it… and I will smile again and sing to that full moon…
Today a simple day in Texas in which was cloudy and damp in the morning, then as the afternoon crept upon its on comers came the great wind. The voice of the clouds that dance among the trees could be found all around me as I walked out my door. The wind creaked against my transformer of a car showing her older noisier side with each gust of wind. As I returned home I opened the upstairs windows and once more the wind danced inside of my apartment. I lay on my unmade bed of throw about covers trying to nap, the wind tried to keep me up with its constant talking. I heard the wind grace against the long black curtain in my bedroom, twirling into a spiral of roundabouts. Then proceeded to enter my room as the wind tippy toed around the room checking out every nock and cranny. Then as if someone or thing scared it the tippy toes disappeared and turned into the scampering of a run down my hall to only stop and play in my computer/ art room; Painting up ideas of a summer with a warm gaze of honey to freshen up the sky with. The wind started to change its appearance from damp to dry and cold. Thus my effort of getting out of bed to close the windows was formed. Goodbye dear wind until another wonderful day in this new land to me called Texas.

Texas, I’m in Texas. It’s nice sunny and warm, yet I can’t stand the side rides next to the highways. The drivers here are aggressive but in a non-aggressive way. Example to this is if you put your turn signal on you have the right to move in front of the guy next to you either on the left or right. He has to let you in. I am not used to that. I’m used to putting on the turn signal and waiting until a clear path for me to turn is made available. They are aggressive when it comes to move into the lane they want, but yet not aggressive to be aggressive to the person. If you did that in Pennsylvania you would get hit by the vehicle. Or they would follow you on your tail end beeping. We have the aggression in aggressive driving.
